The Egyptian Woman: Balancing Her Physical and Mental Health and Her Rights in Religion and Law

The event was held under the patronage of Khaled El-Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Misr University for Science and Technology; Dr. Nehad El-Mahboub, President of the University; and Dr. Rehab Abdel Moneim, Dean of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. The symposium was moderated by Dr. Naglaa Sami, a teaching assistant in the College of Pharmacy, with additional participation by Farah Mohamed, a student at the College of Media

The proceedings began with a dignified recitation of selected verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a recitation by Mohamed Medhat, an outstanding student from the College of Medicine. This was succeeded by a series of educational lectures delivered by experts in health, religion, and law, interspersed with interactive discussions on women’s empowerment and enhancing the role of women in society, as well as practical recommendations to support Egyptian women on every level.

The speakers provided recommendations to Increase awareness about the most common illnesses affecting women, emphasized the importance of early detection and preventive measures against viruses, and stressed the need for regular health check-ups. They also highlighted free health campaigns and government initiatives while simultaneously raising awareness of women’s constitutional and religious rights and calling for a rejection of harmful customs and traditions that undermine these rights

On the social front, the speakers offered recommendations on empowering women—especially in rural and remote areas—and strengthening their leadership role in society, as well as on nurturing children’s proper psychological development, promoting a culture of healthy nutrition, and the necessity of regular health examinations

At the healthcare level, the recommendations called for making medical examinations accessible to all to ensure early detection of diseases, and for the design of integrated health programs tailored to every age group, with specific recommendations for each life stage

Presentations were delivered by:

• Dr. Hala Adly Hussein, who addressed various aspects of women’s health;

• His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Salem Abdel Jalil, who spoke about women’s rights in Islam;

• Father Shenouda Mounir, who discussed the position of women within Christian theology and pastoral care; and

• Dr. Mahmoud Karoura, who delivered a speech on the health challenges facing Egyptian women

The event also honored several influential women whose inspiring achievements span different fields, as well as exemplary mothers who have set remarkable examples of sacrifice and generosity. Among those recognized were:

• Dr. Rehab Abdel Moneim, celebrated for her pioneering leadership as Dean of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing;

• Dr. Suhair Al-Ansari, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, for her scientific excellence;

• Dr. Hoda Shamloula, Assistant Dean for Creativity and Service Excellence, for her outstanding contributions in creative and service work;

• Dr. Marwa Mohannad, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, for her distinguished scientific contributions; and

• Dr. Mona Abdel Latif, Head of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy, for her excellence in research and her support of fellow researchers.

Additionally, the event recognized:

• Dr. Walaa Hamada, Vice-Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, for her remarkable ability to manage dual administrative roles;

• Ms. Doha Mostafa, for her excellence in administrative work;

• Ms. Hala Fawzi, for her exemplary organizational and institutional commitment; and • Ms. Wada’a Ramadan, for her outstanding professional responsibility

Furthermore, several exemplary mothers were honored, namely Nadra Hanafi, Zainahom Mohamed, Reda Badawy, and Azza Abdel Majeed
