The obstetrics and gynecology nursing department was established in September 2021 with a pre-settled vision and mission derived from the faculty`s vision and mission. The department provides 2 main courses (Maternity and Neonatal Health Nursing and Clinical Practice Maternity and Neonatal Health nursing).
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology aspires to prepare nurses who are able to compete locally and regionally in the field of maternal nursing during different age stages.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology aims to prepare qualified nurses who are able to provide nursing services to women of all ages in the field of obstetrics and gynecology through comprehensive educational program accordance with the standards of the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality, which enhances the development of scientific and practical skills for students to prepare them to provide safe health services and meet the needs of the local community.
- Studying the physical, psychological, and social aspects affecting a woman’s life by studying the anatomy and physiology of the internal and external reproductive system.
- Studying the health status of women during childbearing periods, which includes pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, gynecological diseases.
- Improving the health of the mother and fetus during pregnancy and providing them with full nursing care during the different stages of pregnancy.
- Providing comprehensive nursing care for the mother and fetus during different stages of pregnancy as well as during the childbirth process.
- Assessing the basic and necessary needs of the mother during the postpartum period and giving her nursing care.
- Practice counseling skills during discussing certain issues as infertility and family planning methods.
