Biography

Senior Executive, Consultant, Serial Entrepreneur, Investor, and University Professor with international experience in the US, Africa, and the Middle East that managed to combine deep knowledge of both the medical and the information technology industries with extensive practical market experience. Knowledgeable in planning and managing businesses in the Middle East and Africa. Maintains functional experience in health informatics, change management, strategic planning, management of growth, financial analysis, Healthtech operation management, CRM, supply chain management, cross-functional team leadership, and outsourcing.

 

University professor with 10+ years of teaching experience. Currently: Heading the Health Administration and Informatic Technology program at the College of Applied Health Science Technology in MUST University, Adjunct Professor of management at the American University in Cairo (AUC) teaching: Information driven healthcare and health informatics, Healthcare Leadership and governance, organization behavior and culture, strategic planning, Creative entrepreneurship and change management at the (AUC) school of business and the school of continuing education. Frequent consultant, coach and mentor to top executives and entrepreneurs in various MENA and African countries like UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait, Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda and Nigeria. Frequent public speaker with appearances in major entrepreneurship, healthcare, Telecom & CIT conferences. Published both in Egypt & US. Favorite subjects are: Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Change, Digital Transformation, E Commerce, Fintech, Telemedicine and Healthtech for developing nations.

 

Physician entrepreneur with +25 years’ experience in leading Healthtech business in Middle East and North Africa “MENA” region during which he founded and built 3 successful tech ventures in US, Egypt and KSA. He also led international and regional conglomerates in MENA region and Africa like the Wadhwani foundation of Silicon Valley CA USA, the Kharafi group of Kuwait, Polaroid MENA out of Dubai UAE and co-founded numerous Healthtech Public-Private-Partnership with Egypt government to bridge the local digital divide.

 

Founding member of HTTT_MENA which is a think tank consisting of 80 investors, medical professionals (physicians, pharmacists, dentists, vets,..etc), Information technology, health informatics specialists and entrepreneurs to discuss new ideas and disruptive business models in Healthtech that can change MENA region.

 

Founder and Senior Partner at MenaGurus www.menagurus.com , a 100M angle investment group specialized in funding Tech startups working in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Recently was the Executive Vice President and Regional Managing Director of Middle East and Africa for Wadhwani Foundation www.wfglobal.org , a California-based US foundation with global reach working in 22 counties, backed by the support of Romesh Wadhwani, a Silicon Valley billionaire and philanthropist, working toward job creations in developing economies by supporting entrepreneurship and skills development.
