Bridges Between Bridges: The Role of International Institutions in Supporting Translation, in cooperation with the Translation Committee

Under the auspices of Mr. Khaled El-Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, his Excellency the Minister of Culture; Professor Ahmed Fouad Hanou, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Culture; Professor Ashraf El-Azazy, and his excellency the President of the University; Professor Nihad El-Mahboub; the College of Languages and Translation held a symposium entitled “Bridges Between Bridges: The Role of International Institutions in Supporting Translation”, in cooperation with the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture. Presenting at the symposium were:

• Prof. Hussein Mahmoud, Dean of the College of Languages and Translation, Badr University, and Rapporteur of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.
• Prof. Mohamed Nasr El-Gebali, Professor of Russian Language, College of Languages, Ain Shams University, former Dean of the College of Languages, Luxor University, member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture and also the moderator of the symposium.
• Prof. Rasha Kamal, Professor of Chinese Language, Vice Dean of the College of Languages and Translation, Badr University and member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.
• Prof. Sami Mandour, Professor of French Language, College of Languages and Translation, Al-Azhar University, and member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture. Prof. Asim Ezz El-Din El-Ammari, Professor of German Language, College of Languages, Ain Shams University, and member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.
• Prof. Lobna Abdel Tawab Youssef, Professor of English Language, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.
• Prof. Hesham Abdel-Aleem Darwish, Head of the Department of Greek Language, Faculty of Art, Cairo University, and member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.
• Prof. Sayed Rashad Korni, Assistant Professor, Department of African Languages, college of African Research and Studies, Cairo University, and member of the Translation Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.

Also participated from Russia, Dr. Sayed Igor, Deputy Director of the Moscow Institute of Translation and International Relations,

And from China, Dr. Lin Fengmin, Vice President of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Peking University

As well as, Prof. Dr. Karma Sami, President of the National Center for Translation

And Prof. Hussein Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Languages and Translation The event took place on Monday, June 16, at 11:30 a.m. in the university’s conference hall.
