About Unit
The Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit at Misr University for Science and Technology plays a pivotal role in promoting institutional excellence, fostering a fair, inclusive, and safe university environment where all members of the community can participate equally and without discrimination.
The Unit is tasked with developing institutional policies that advance equality, implementing training and awareness programs, and supporting the academic and professional empowerment of women and persons with disabilities. It also oversees complaint mechanisms, ensures protection from violence and harassment, and collaborates with national bodies to advance the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The Unit strives to be a leading model in safeguarding rights, promoting justice, and strengthening a culture of empowerment across all academic and administrative sectors of the university.
To establish the University’s Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit as a leading national model in promoting justice, empowerment, and equitable participation, thereby supporting institutional excellence and contributing to sustainable development in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation requirements.
The Unit works to embed the principles of equality and equal opportunities for all members of the university community through fair institutional policies and effective awareness and training programs. These efforts aim to ensure the empowerment of women and persons with disabilities, and to enhance their participation in education, research, and administration, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
- Implement clear equal opportunity policies within the university: Develop and adopt policies on equal opportunities, gender equality, and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
- Promote institutional awareness of equality and social justice: Conduct training programs and seminars to foster a culture of equality and eliminate discrimination.
- Empower women and persons with disabilities academically and professionally: Support their representation in university committees, leadership positions, and community initiatives.
- Provide a safe university environment free from discrimination, violence, and harassment: Establish a secure and confidential complaint mechanism with follow-up from the legal advisor.
- Strengthen integration with state institutions to achieve sustainable development goals: Collaborate with relevant national entities to implement joint initiatives.
- Ensure continuous improvement of the Unit’s institutional performance: Monitor performance indicators and submit periodic reports in line with the university’s quality assurance system.
Symposium Titled: “Egyptian Women: Between Physical and Mental Health and Their Rights in Religion and Law”
As part of the initiative “The Future of Egyptian Women: Daughter, Mother, Grandmother” for the fourth consecutive year, the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing invites you to attend our educational symposium titled “Egyptian Women: Between Physical and Mental Health and Their Rights in Religion and Law.”
Symposium Topics:
- The role of physical and mental health at the various stages of a woman’s life.
- The religious perspective on women’s rights and their importance in society.
- The legal rights of Egyptian women and the mechanisms for their empowerment.

The Second Event of the “Egyptian Woman’s Future: Daughter – Mother – Grandmother” Initiative
The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing at Misr University for Science and Technology is organizing the second event under the “Egyptian Woman’s Future: Daughter – Mother – Grandmother” initiative. This event, which features the “Breadwinning Woman and Handicrafts and Small Industries Exhibition” for the third consecutive year, will be held in conjunction with the college exhibition showcasing academic staff and support personnel engaged in handicraft work, in celebration of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day.
Participation of the College of Oral and Dental Surgery in the Symposium “The Role of Egyptian Women Through the Ages in Building Egyptian Society”
The College of Oral and Dental Surgery at Misr University for Science and Technology participated in a symposium organized by the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit in cooperation with the Center for Public Opinion Research, under the title “The Role of Egyptian Women Through the Ages in Building Egyptian Society.” The symposium was delivered by Prof. Dr. Huda Zakaria, a professor of sociology at Zagazig University, on Sunday, 23 March 2025. The College of Oral and Dental Surgery was well-represented, led by Prof. Dr. Hala El-Menoufy, the Dean of the College and Coordinator of the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit, along with other teaching and support staff. The event’s organization was further supported by the Students’ Union of the College of Oral and Dental Surgery, with outstanding participation from students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
