
Dr. Anas Attia El Feky -Professor of Criticism and Arabic and Islamic Studies and Director of the Arab Heritage Center at Misr University for Science and Technology- discussed the book “The Movement of Critical Publishing of Texts between the Orientalists and the Levantines,” published by the Heritage Editing Center at the National Book and Documentation House and edited by Professor Ayman Fouad Sayed.
This event took place at the seminar organized by the National Books and Documents House on Wednesday evening, January 29, 2025, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s activities at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Noura Abdel Azim and was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ismail Hamed, former President of 6th of October University and advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Misr University for Science and Technology, Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Mawla, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Misr University for Science and Technology, and a large number of members of the public and specialists.
The book addressed many valuable research papers, including Leiden Publications in the Netherlands, the German Orientalist Wiesenfeld and his efforts in publishing Arabic historical texts, the Dutch Orientalist De Kooij and his efforts in publishing Arabic texts, the German Orientalist School and its role in the critical publication of Islamic heritage texts, and the efforts of the Heritage Verification Center at the National Book and Documentation House in the essential publication of texts.
Dr. Anas Elfeki’s discussion of the book The Publishing Movement dealt with the definition of the book Muruj al-Zahab and its publications in the West and East, and the Arabic lithographs; their origins, and importance.
