Studying in the French Language and Translation Department began in 2005. The department grants its students a Bachelor’s degree in French language and translation through the three primary branches of knowledge: linguistics, literature, and translation of all kinds (specialised, consecutive, and immediate). The faculty offers theoretical and practical courses that inspire and enhance students’ language, creativity and research abilities. A student enrolled in the French section must study 150 credit hours, including university requirements, faculty requirements, and elective subjects. The department takes into account the difference in students’ level of French proficiency. Some courses are initially intended for language learning for beginners, and these range from levels A1, A2 and B1 according to international standards CECR (Le Cadre Européen Commun de Référence).

In addition to the undergraduate program, the French language program started a postgraduate program in the fields of literature, linguistics, and translation.
