The Center for Editing Arab Heritage Publishes Comprehensive Indexes of Al-Azhar Magazine in Print and Digital Formats

A Unique Scholarly Achievement: The Center for Editing Arab Heritage Publishes Comprehensive Indexes of Al-Azhar Magazine in Print and Digital Formats

In recognition of the profound significance of Al-Azhar Magazine as an influential cultural, educational, and religious platform, and under the leadership of Professor Dr. Anas Atiya Al-Faqi, Vice President of Misr University for Science and Technology and Director of the Center for Editing Arab Heritage, the Center has embarked on an ambitious scholarly project to broaden the magazine’s accessibility for readers, researchers, and students. The project aims to facilitate swift and efficient access to the magazine’s rich content, thereby expanding the circle of beneficiaries of its intellectual legacy.

Approximately eighteen months ago, the Center initiated the indexing of all issues of Al-Azhar Magazine, beginning with its inaugural issue dated 1 Muharram 1349 AH (May 1930 CE) through Dhul-Hijjah 1440 AH (August 2019 CE).

By the grace of God, the project has now reached its final stages, with the indexes currently undergoing the last phases of revision and verification.

The indexes will be published, God willing, both in print and digital form, as a comprehensive set that includes:

  • An index of published topics.
  • An index of fatwas.
  • An index of poetry (poems published in the magazine).
  • An index of articles published in English.
  • An index of articles published in French.
  • In addition, five indexes of notable figures: authors of Arabic articles, muftis, poets, authors of English articles, and authors of French articles.

The topical index will contain the following data: article title, author, year, month, and page number.

The author indexes will include: author’s name, subject, year, month, and page number.

This project reflects the mission of the Center for Editing Arab Heritage at Misr University for Science and Technology, which is dedicated to preserving the Arab-Islamic heritage and making it available to scholars in a verified and documented form. It also underscores the university’s pioneering role in serving culture and knowledge, and in providing society with rigorous academic contributions that reinforce identity and contribute to building the future.
