Therefore, Misr University for Science and Technology decided to establish the Department of Modern Greek Language at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Translation in 2016 to qualify the student to work in many different fields, including: translation, journalism, and media, as well as work in the Greek Embassy, and Greek companies operating in the field of investment in Egypt, which are multiplying day after day. Thus, Misr University for Science and Technology is distinguished as the first private university to establish a department for the study of the modern Greek language to keep up with the requirements of Egypt political and economical attitudes and the needs of the labor market in the modern era.
The department also seeks to create a scientific and academic climate characterized by flexibility and the ability to develop oneself through dealing with other departments in the faculty and establishing the principle of lifelong learning. One of the students of the department won the first place in the competition of the Ministry of Culture and the National Council for Translation for young translators under the age of 35 for the best text translated from Greek into Arabic in the field of humanities at the Republic level in 2021.
The department also works to sign scientific and cultural agreements with Greek and Cypriot universities to obtain scholarships. So that students can travel and complete Master’s and Doctoral studies in those universities.
