The department was established in 2022, and the department is the first ever in all private universities in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Russian language is the most widespread language in the world, as it is spoken by more than 300 million people, either as the mother tongue or the second language, as it is spread in 15 countries, which are the countries of the former Soviet Union, in addition to many other countries in the continents of Asia and Europe. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
The study in the department aims to develop and master the various language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. There are various courses that include teaching literature, language culture, grammar, essays, readings, and conversations.
Translation occupies the most prominent place among the academic curricula, where all types of translation are taught: political, economic, legal, scientific, touristic, archaeological, and literary.
The department aims to prepare a graduate who is able to work in all fields in the Russian language, including: tour guidance, call centers, customer service, and various translation companies, as the Russian Federation has strong relations and many projects with the Egyptian state, on top of which is the Dabaa nuclear project, and the new industrial zone in Suez. Graduates can also join the academic corps and obtain Master’s and Doctoral degrees.
The department seeks to strengthen relations with Russian cultural institutions in Egypt, especially the Russian cultural centers.
The department includes elite faculty members from the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University: Prof. Mohamed Nasr El-Din El-Gabaly, Head of the Department at the Faculty, Head of the Russian Language Department at Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, the former Egyptian Cultural Adviser in the Federal Russia, and Prof. Dina Mohamed Abdo, Professor of the Russian Language at the Faculty of Al Alsun, Ain Shams Universty.
