The Respiratory Care Technology Program is committed to preparing qualified graduates to meet labour market needs in the field of respiratory care, as well as to contribute to community service and scientific research in line with sustainable development and digital transformation.

 

The program of Respiratory Care Technology is composed of 128 credit hours. The academic year begins from the 1st of October of the following year; each academic year consists of two semesters. Each semester is extended over about three months and covers 16 credit hours on average. The student studies the program for four years as the following:
• First year, includes general courses supporting the basic knowledge of health science technology.
• The Second year involves studying the basic science for respiratory care technology such as
“Respiratory &Cardiovascular Anatomy” & “Respiratory &Cardiovascular Physiology”.

• For the third year, the students will study other modalities service the advanced technology in
respiratory care such as Advanced Mechanical Ventilation & Advanced Pulmonary Function
Testing.
• Fourth year, the student will gain knowledge about Polysomnography Technology, Pulmonary
Rehabilitation, Respiratory Home Care. In the final semester, the students will take a final research
project.
To obtain the degree of bachelor’s in Respiratory Care Technology, the student is required to complete
128 credit hours as follows:
• University Requirements: Share 12 Credit Hours at 9.4%
• College requirements: Shares 32 Credit Hours at 25%.
• Respiratory care Technology Core Courses: Shares 84 credit hours at a percentage of 65.6%.

Attributes of the Graduate: The program graduate is distinguished by his competence and professionalism
to assist in a healthy professional life to support the quantitative and qualitative deficiency in medical
services in the healthcare sector.
The aim of the program is to:
1. Provide graduates students who function as competent diagnostic Respiratory Technologists with
the application of state-of-the-art scientific techniques in respiratory care.
2. Enable graduates’ students who exhibit professional behaviors and practice under international
standards for respiratory care profession.
3. Enable graduates’ students who understand the importance of professional development and
growth and who are socially- conscious, ethically competent and having communication and
leadership skills.
4. Prepare graduates students who demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills with
experience in research and projects’ planning and conduction.
5. Provide graduate students who will perform as entry level respiratory technologists to meet the
needs of the health care community in using modern technology in supporting diagnostic and
respiratory therapeutic procedures.
