MUST University Celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

As part of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit at the university organized a series of scientific and awareness activities in collaboration with several university faculties, including the College of Special Education, the College of Information Technology, and the College of Biotechnology. The events were held over two days Wednesday, February 25, 2026, and Saturday, February 28, 2026 with the aim of highlighting the role of women in science and scientific research and encouraging greater participation of girls in pathways of innovation and knowledge.

The activities included a scientific seminar at the College of Special Education entitled “International Day of Women and Girls in Science,” presented by Professor Dr. Huda Bashir, Dean of the College. In her talk, she addressed the pioneering role of women across various fields and emphasized the importance of empowering girls and encouraging them to pursue scientific and research disciplines.

The College of Biotechnology also contributed with a scientific seminar titled “Women and Girls in Science: A Journey of Excellence and Leadership Toward the Future,” delivered by Professor Dr. Engy Badawi, Executive Director of the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit. The session hosted Dr. Marina Morris, a recipient of a doctoral scholarship in France, who shared her academic journey and explained the steps for applying to international scholarships. The event also included a scientific competition aimed at fostering a spirit of academic engagement among students, and the winners were honored with certificates of appreciation.

In the same context, the College of Information Technology organized an awareness activity in which Professor Dr. Eman Karam delivered a lecture entitled “Egyptian and International Female Role Models in Software and Artificial Intelligence.” The lecture highlighted inspiring examples of women who have achieved remarkable accomplishments in these fields. The activities concluded with honoring a number of outstanding female students in recognition of their academic and creative achievements, reaffirming the university’s commitment to supporting and empowering women and girls in scientific and research fields
