The College of Applied Health Science Technology (AHST) was established in 2005 as a leader in its field under the name of Applied Medical Science, the name of the college was changed to the College of Applied Health Sciences Technology in 2020.

The College prides itself on the rigorous and continuous development of its academics, where the first class graduated in 2010.

AHST aims to help students to be active through channels in the community and in their fields, creating opportunities and forming relationships that shape their future.

I am particularly delighted, that the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology (AHST) went for a full transition to the new name by September 2020.

The university partnered with several prominent hospitals in order to expand the students’ knowledge and experience across diverse healthcare sectors. 

These partnerships include:

  • The Misr University for Science and Technology Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program) has signed a joint cooperation agreement with the University of Exeter (Radiology Department) to exchange practical and academic experiences (postgraduate)
  • Saudi German Hospital: to train students in the Management and Information Technology program.
  • 57357 Children’s Cancer Hospital: to train students in the Management and Information Technology program.
  • Baheya Hospital: to train students in the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology program.

Program of Study

The student is required to complete 142 credit hours in any department to graduate and earn the bachelor’s degree successfully.

Medical Imaging and Radiology Technology Program

This program prepares students to work in various healthcare settings, including public and private hospitals, research centers, universities, and local and international diagnostic and therapeutic radiology companies. The specializations within this program include:

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology
  • Computed Tomography Technology
  • Interventional Radiology Technology
  • Catheterization and Cardiac Catheterization Technology
  • Breast Imaging Technology
  • Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine Technology

 

Medical Laboratory Technology Program

This program equips students to work in different healthcare facilities, including public and private hospitals, research centers, and pharmaceutical companies, in areas such as:

  • Microbiology
  • Clinical Chemistry
  • Toxicology
  • Blood Banking
  • Molecular Biology
  • Immunology and Serology

 

Respiratory Care Technology Program

The Respiratory Care Technology program specializes in training highly skilled professionals to provide comprehensive care related to the cardiopulmonary system. This includes applying scientific principles to prevent, identify, and treat acute or chronic disorders of the heart and lungs. Specializations include:

  • Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS)
  • Pulmonary Function Technician
  • Neonatal and Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (NPS)
  • Sleep Disorders Testing and Therapeutic Intervention Specialist (SDS)

 

Health Administration and Health Informatics Technology Program

This program focuses on training specialized professionals skilled in computer technology, internet tools, and the World Wide Web, with an emphasis on selected computer applications and electronic technologies related to healthcare practices. The program aims to:

  • Prepare graduates to be knowledgeable in health administration sciences and modern health information technologies.
  • Enable graduates to understand various health organizations and the laws governing them.
  • Equip graduates to handle modern technologies and electronic management methods, especially in medical statistics, registration, and archiving.
  • Enhance students’ abilities for effective professional communication with patients, healthcare team members, colleagues, and the community.
  • Raise health awareness by promoting students’ leadership roles in the community and their participation in improving healthcare quality.
