Intangible Heritage Festival

Under the patronage of
Mr. Khaled El Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees;
Professor Dr. Hala El Manoufi, President of the University;
Professor Dr. Emad Khalil, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs;
and Professor Dr. Abir Enany, Executive Manager of the University’s Cultural Heritage Center and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology and Tourism Guidance for Education and Students’ Affairs,
The Cultural Heritage Center, affiliated with the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector, organized the “Intangible Heritage Festival” on Sunday, 15 February 2026, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, and the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency.
The festival was held in a distinctive celebratory atmosphere reflecting the importance of intangible cultural heritage as a fundamental component of cultural identity that connects past and present, preserves customs, traditions, folk arts, and inherited knowledge, and transmits them to future generations.
The day’s events commenced with the official opening and the presentation of celebratory opening, followed by speeches delivered by senior officials, which emphasized the university’s role in supporting and safeguarding cultural heritage. This was followed by an introductory session by the honorable guests addressing Egyptian intangible cultural heritage and the procedures for its safeguarding and documentation within international heritage lists, while also highlighting creative heritage-based industries and their significance in reinforcing national identity and promoting cultural development.
The program continued with a series of distinguished heritage and artistic performances, including Semsimeya music, Tahteeb, Al Sirah Al Hilaliyyah, and Aragoz, creating an atmosphere of joy and active engagement among attendees.
The festival concluded with the opening of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, which showcased diverse examples of Egyptian heritage elements. The day was rich in cultural and artistic activities, affirming the university’s commitment to supporting and safeguarding heritage and to raising awareness of its value among students and the wider community.
