Students from the French Language Department at MUST’s Faculty of Languages and Translation made their voices heard at the University of Aix-Marseille on Monday, May 18th. Noran Hazem, Ruqaya Salem, and Mariam Saber took part in the “Valises Sonores – Saison Méditerranée 2026” project, pairing their own written texts with carefully chosen music to create a sound suitcase capturing something true about their culture
The two-day event brought together university students from across the Mediterranean: France, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, alongside artists, researchers from the humanities, social sciences, and experimental sciences, and members of the local community. At its heart, the gathering was designed as a shared journey across disciplinary, cultural, and identity borders
The program featured collaborative workshops, interactive installations, artistic performances, roundtable discussions, creative labs, and interactive mapping, all woven together with multilingual mediation and live interpretation to reflect the rich diversity of Mediterranean voices
As a living laboratory for Mediterranean pluralism and cross-disciplinary thinking, the project bridges arts and sciences to generate stories and ideas rooted in place, nature, history, and shared human experience
