About Center

The Cooperation between Misr University for Science and Technology/ Collage of Oral and Dental Surgery and the Italian University of Genova for the postgraduate fellowship in a variety of specialties are considered to be of special importance and benifit for the patients as well as the trainees and the Egyptian sendicates. The Fellowhip Center at MUST is the first training center having this special collaboration that import the technological advances in many important dental fields to Egypt.

Vision

The vision is to introduce all the updates in the field of Dental implants which are used globally, and to train the dentists on all the recent technologies in this field,  which in turn raises the efficiency of the therapeutic services that reduce the obligations for seeking a high therapeutic level abroad. 

Mission

The aim of the fellowship program in implanting is to prepare a distinguished dentist scientifically and professionally in the field of implantology, to meet the requirements of the labor market locally and regionally, through the provision of high level therapeutic services that satisfy the patients needs and community requirements, within the framework of societal and ethical values. 

About the agreement

For the territory of Cairo, to collaborate, develop and transfer a training course (fellowship in Implantology) constituted by totally 5 modules according to below details:

  1. Total course modules: 5 modules
  2. Five modules are consisting of 2 days and Genova University staff will be coming to cairo (4 times) and teach students together with local faculty for 2 days.
  3. Successful completion of the course and examination shall be recognised by the presentation of a certificate of attendance and shall confer mediated entery to the Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Implantology, University of Genova, Italy.
  4. Elements of the course are didactic theoretical and applied clinical knowledge of Implant and Periodontal Surgery and Medicine. Additional aspects shall include the advanced surgical procedures and the compilation of clinical case presentations.
  5. The teahing faculty members are selected from members of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Genova and accredited international specialists in Implantology.

Each parties responsibilities and obligations

Commitments of MUST are:

1)        promoting, advertising and running the program in Cairo.

2)        providing the materials and product for hands-on sessions in Cairo.

3)        providing break, lunch and course venue during modules in Cairo.

4)        paying an amount of 45000 dollars as the course fee to Genova University.

5)        printing the logos of both University of Genova and MUST in all the promotional documents.

 

Commitments of Genova University are:

1)        dispatching the teaching professors to Cairo for the four modules and covering the expenses of honorarium and travel costs.

2)        allocating a separate webpage for each program in the university website to support the course promotion. Details of each course such as course program and timetable, list and CV of the Italian teaching staff, name of the collaborators, being a university or a scientific association as well as the name of organizer will be uploaded on these webpages.

3)        conducting the final exam for the students in the last module.

4)        issuing a fellowship certificate for those who successfully passed the final exam.

  • During the Corona period, many webinars were made.The work was completed after a period due to the work being stopped due to the Corona Pandemic, all precautionary measures were taken and all subscribers were contacted and the subscription was reopened in specific places
  • The practical part is a workshop on 4 different implant set with knowledge of how each set works after a stagewith hands-on sheep head then hand on patients.

Implant course Portfolio

Clinic Location and Facilities:

There is a special clinic in the fourth level of Soad Kafafi Hospital well equipped with eight dental units, two dental implant motors, two wall mounted dental x-ray machine, automated processing dental x-ray film machine, and five surgical dental implant kits (Bego System, Nucleoss System, Verodent, and Swiss Implant). We also have CBCT machine and Panorama. All surgical tools for oral surgery are included.

Eligibility:

Candidates should at least had successfully accomplished Dental Bachelor Degree from any approved Egyptian or Arab or International approved dental school.

Implant Fellowship Course details:

This advanced graduate level program will include all important aspects of implant dentistry: diagnosis and treatment planning, surgical and final restorative stages of implant dentistry, understanding of surgical therapies and implant placement in selected cases, understanding of prosthetic therapies, long-term maintenance, and prevention and management of implant complications. The program is supported by relevant didactic courses, seminars, and workshops.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 implant in different cases ranging from immediate delayed implants to guided bone regeneration, ridge splitting and sinus lift.
  • Passing MCQ exam in the final module.
  • Passing cases presentation in front of our dental board examiner.

The course of Study:

During their curriculum, fellows will be trained to:

  • Diagnose cases;
  • Identify complex cases that must be referred to other specialty departments;
  • Perform site preparation surgery and implant fixture placement in simple and advanced classification cases;
  • Perform temporization procedures;
  • Fabricate single implant restorations, multiple unit fixed restorations, fixed detachable restorations, and an implant supported overdenture;
  • Diagnose the health of an existing implant fixture and understand causes and treatment of implant failure.

Fellowship General Graduation party on Saturday 10/9/2022

Under the patronage of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Misr University for Science and Technology, Mr. Khaled El-Toukhi, and under the supervision and full support of the President of the University, Prof. Ashraf Haidar, the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery, Misr University for Science and Technology celebrated on Saturday 10/9/2022 in the University Conference Hall graduating the eighth batch of Fellowship in Laser Applications and the third batch of Fellowships in Dental Implants and the Use of Botox and Filler Techniques in Oral and Facial Beautification, with a total of 100 students in various fellowships.

With this celebration, the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Misr University for Science and Technology, and through an international agreement with the Italian University of Genoa, which extended since 2014 until now, has been able to graduate nearly 450 doctors who were trained at the highest level to use modern technologies in the field of dentistry, in line with the vision of the college which is to graduate a dentist who is able to compete locally, regionally and internationally.

 

The graduation certificates and shields were handed over by Prof. Hala El-Menoufy, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery, Misr University for Science and Technology, Prof. Stefano Bendchinti, Dean of the Laser Applications Center at the Italian University of Genoa, and Prof. Jihad Habli, Coordinator of the Italian University of Genoa in the Middle East and North Africa.

This ceremony was attended by Prof. Hisham Abdel Hakam, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery, Cairo University, who praised the success of the various fellowship programs at Misr University for Science and Technology and emphasized their excellence and effective impact in raising the professional level of our doctors in various specialties and qualifying our graduates to compete in the market the work.

The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Raffaele Bentangelo, a representative of the Italian Cultural Office, who confirmed the keenness of the Italian Cultural Attaché to renew the cooperation protocol with the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery, Misr University for Science and Technology, and the continuation of holding scientific days to introduce the various Italian fellowship programs, as well as the Master of Laser Applications presented in cooperation between Misr University for Science and Technology and the Italian University of Genoa and the granting of certificates accredited by the Italian Cultural Office to the attendees. His Excellency praised the prominent role of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery of the Misr University for Science and Technology and its constant keenness to open new programs and expand the horizon of cooperation every year.
