The Faculty of Special Education (Department of Mental Disability) held a ceremony on Tuesday, 21st March 2023, in collaboration with the University Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit, in conjunction with World Down’s Syndrome Day.

A member of the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit, Dr. Mervat Gamal, Psychology lecturer at the University Requirements Unit, Manager of Psychological Counselling Unit, and Special Needs Support Unit, and the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Unit Coordinator, Dr. Sara Abdullah , Dr. Noor Fathalla, a certified nutritionist, and students of the University Shazlong Team.

The ceremony began with the arrival of children with Down syndrome from several centers. Prof. Sherif Shaheen spoke about the necessity of taking care of Down Syndrome children and to what extent we should care for them, and then children performed various shows, then a student read a poem. The students prepared a variety of activities for the children. The Down Syndrome Child Nutrition Symposium was presented by Dr. Noor Fathalla, a certified nutritionist. The ceremony was concluded with honoring the students who helped with the day’s preparations and honoring the children and their parents.
