The General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide aims to establish frameworks for cooperation in the fields of Arab and Islamic heritage of Fatwas, as well as presenting shared perspectives on Islamic Sufism.

In this context, His Eminence Professor Dr. Nazir Ayad, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide and Grand Mufti of Egypt, received Professor Dr. Anas Atiya Al-Faqi, Director of the Arab Heritage Center at Misr University for Science and Technology, at the Secretariat’s headquarters in Cairo on Monday, October 21.

The meeting discussed establishing cooperation frameworks in the fields of Arab and Islamic heritage, focusing on the collection and verification of jurisprudential fatwas from the era of the Companions (may God be pleased with them), through the imams of the four Islamic schools of thought and their disciples from various parts of the Islamic world. These scholars represent the natural evolution of their imams’ jurisprudential efforts, which shaped the Islamic jurisprudential schools over time, leading to the modern-day fiqh councils and fatwa institutions spread across the Islamic world.

The meeting also explored shared perspectives on issues of Islamic Sufism, particularly as the Arab Heritage Center at Misr University for Science and Technology has made significant contributions to verifying and translating major works in Islamic Sufism.

Additionally, the meeting discussed cooperation in the field of electronic publishing between Misr University’s Journal of Humanities Studies, edited by Dr. Anas Atiya Al-Faqi, and the Journal of Dar Al-Iftaa of Egypt. The meeting was attended by Dr. Walid Mubarak, Executive Director of the Scientific Heritage Center at Cairo University, and Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide
