Orientation Meeting for the College of Special Education

The College of Special Education organized an orientation meeting for new first-year students and their families on Tuesday, September 17, for the Fall 2024/2025 semester in the Knowledge Hall. They were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Sherif Shahin, Dean of the College; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Basma Badr, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Hanan Bala’ou, Coordinator and Organizer of the Orientation Day Program for New Students; and the support team including Mr. Omar Gowhar, Ms. Asmaa Yassin, Mr. Mohab Ahmed, Mr. Hisham Mohsen, Ms. Mona Aouni, several faculty members, and student union representatives.

The warm reception began with the national anthem, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, and an introductory video about the college. The Dean of the College delivered a speech to the students, welcoming them and their families, offering general guidance, and expressing gratitude and appreciation for their efforts, determination, and excellence in joining the College of Special Education.

This was followed by a speech from Prof. Dr. Emad Khalil, Vice President of the University for Community Service. The Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs then provided general guidance to the new students, emphasizing the importance of attendance, adherence to university regulations, and respect for faculty members. Dr. Bassant Galal, the Chief Academic Advisor, explained the college’s regulations, academic system, and the role of the academic advisor.

Next, media personality and novelist Mr. Essam Youssef, host of the “Geniuses” and “Differently Abled” programs, gave a speech. Dr. Ayman Hussein, Director of E-Learning, informed students about the services offered by electronic platforms and how to use them and handle related issues. Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Hossam El-Khatib raised awareness about the importance of mental health and how to overcome psychological problems and pressures during university life. Maestro Dr. Mohamed Yehia, Choir Trainer at Misr University for Science and Technology, invited new students to join the university choir.

The event also featured distinguished alumni from the College of Special Education. Dr. Hanan Naji introduced the students to the Student Activities Unit, highlighting the importance of various activities in developing student skills. The meeting included a speech from the student exchange participants between Misr University for Science and Technology and Al Sharqiyah University in Oman.
