A Visit of a French Delegation to the College of Foreign Languages ​​& Translation

Under the auspices of Mr. Khaled el Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Nihad Al-Mahboub, President of Misr University of Science and Technology; Prof. Hussein Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Translation; a highly- esteemed delegation from the Republic of France was received by the university president on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The delegation included Mr. M. Daniel Rignault, the Educational Cooperation Attaché for France in Cairo; Dr. Christelle Combe, a professor at Aix-Marseille University in Aix-en-Provence; Ji Ah OH, a design engineer specialising in digital technology and Head of the Language Centre at Aix-Marseille University; and Professor Suheila Grifi, a specialised trainer in the use of digital tools and a trainer at the Language Centre.

The distinguished guests were received by Prof. Hussein Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Languages and Translation; Prof. Omayma Al-Shal, Dean of the College of Archaeology and Tourism Guidance; Prof. Adel Saleh, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Ahmed Adel, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Assoc. Prof. Hanan Shoukry, Vice Dean for Education and Students Affairs; and Prof. Dina Abu Al-Ezz, Head of the French Language Department, along with all department members. The event was also attended by Prof. Nancy Zaghloul, Vice Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Inas Abdel Rahim, Director of Educational Development, and Prof. Mohamed Zazou, Director of Souad Kafafi Hospital.

The university president welcomed the French delegation, emphasizing the university’s commitment to strengthening relationships and enhancing cooperation with French universities in various scientific and cultural fields.

Further, the meeting discussed the collaboration with MUST as part of the “FEF Égypte REINVENT” project, which is funded by the Cultural Cooperation and Work Sector of the French Embassy. The project’s aim is to enhance and modernize French language departments in Egyptian universities while also identifying the needs of the French language department and providing necessary support and training for faculty members from 14 Egyptian universities. This initiative seeks to update curricula to align with professional market demands and modern education.

Additionally, the meeting explored potential joint cooperation with the medical sector at the university, represented by the College of Medicine, as well as collaboration with the College of Archaeology and Tourism Guidance. After the meeting concluded, the delegation headed for a tour around the central library, where they were welcomed by Ms. Rasha Hassan, who showcased the library’s advanced facilities. Additionally, Prof. Omaima Al-Shal, Dean of the College of Archaeology and Tourism Guidance, provided an explanation for the university’s museum collections. The delegation also visited Souad Kafafi University Hospital, where the visitors expressed their admiration for the level of comfort enjoyed by the hospital’s residents. Furthermore, a working session with faculty members from the French Language Department yielded fruitful results for enhancing the educational process
