In line with Misr University for Science and Technology’s commitment to social responsibility and its dedication to supporting individuals with special needs, the university organized a distinguished celebration for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, under the patronage of Mr. Khaled El-Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees
The event was notably attended by university leaders and deans of participating colleges, including Prof. Dr. Nehad El-Mahboub, University President; Prof. Emad Khalil, Vice President for Community Affairs and Environmental Development; and Prof. Dr Hala El-Menoufy, Dean of the College of Oral and Dental Surgery.
The university’s Equal Opportunity Unit, along with several other colleges, participated in organizing this significant event, offering a range of educational and recreational activities tailored for children with special needs
Prof. Dr. Hala El-Menoufy, Dean of the College of Oral and Dental Surgery, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the importance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and highlighting the university’s substantial role in supporting this group through awareness initiatives and medical care. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nehal Kabil, Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, gave a welcoming address, underscoring the significance of student and faculty participation in such events that promote social inclusion for individuals with special needs.
The College of Oral and Dental Surgery played a pivotal role in the event, dedicating a special area for children with special needs and their families. The focus was on the importance of caring for this group and integrating them into society, providing information on various ways to support them in educational and health sectors. The college also offered numerous recreational activities, including special performances for children, interactive games, and engaging workshops, adding an atmosphere of joy and fun to the event
Beyond educational and recreational activities, the college provided exceptional medical services to children with special needs. A team of specialized doctors conducted examinations and offered necessary medical consultations and treatments, reflecting the university’s commitment to comprehensive healthcare for this group
The celebration served as an opportunity to highlight the importance of integrating persons with disabilities into academic and social communities, enhancing everyone’s understanding of their needs, and creating a supportive environment for them.
