Participation of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing at Misr University for Science and Technology, in collaboration with the College of Medicine, in organizing the Third Medical Convoy for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

As part of its humanitarian and societal mission, the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing at Misr University for Science and Technology, in collaboration with the College of Medicine, organized the third medical convoy for the 2024/2025 academic year at the “Abu El Wafa” Health Center in 6th of October City on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. This event was coordinated with the Giza Health Directorate and supported by Souad Kafafi University Hospital

Details of the medical convoy:

• Provision of medical diagnostic services through a specialized team comprising five clinics in the following specialties:

o General Internal Medicine

o Pediatrics

o Orthopedic Surgery

o Cardiology o Urology

• Referral of cases requiring additional examinations or therapeutic interventions to Souad Kafafi University Hospital.

• Dispensation of necessary medications free of charge under the supervision of faculty members and assistants from the College of Pharmacy, along with the provision of pharmaceutical guidance and health awareness.

The college participated in the medical convoy by supplying medications collected through the “Utilize Your Home Pharmacy for Good” initiative, managed by the students’ experimental factory, SEF-MUST. The campaign aims to gather unused, still-valid medications from homes and deliver them to those in need. Medications are collected through designated boxes distributed across various university locations, reflecting the university’s commitment to community engagement and promoting solidarity among community members, while ensuring optimal resource utilization and implementing waste reduction policies

Participants from the college:

• Providing free medical and pharmaceutical services to support residents of undeserved areas.

• Enhancing community health and promoting health awareness.

• Training students from both colleges in fieldwork and fostering collaboration among different specialties

The convoy was held under the patronage of Mr. Khaled El-Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Nehad El-Mahboub, Acting President of the University; and Prof. Dr. Rehab Ahmed Abdel-Moneim, Dean of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing

This convoy is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to serve the community and promote public health, reaffirming its commitment to providing care and support to those in need and enriching health knowledge among community members.
