On Monday, October 21, 2024, His Eminence Professor Dr. Ayad Nazir, Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, met with Professor Dr. Anas Atiya Al-Faqi, Director of the Center for Editing Arab Heritage at Misr University for Science and Technology.
The meeting discussed frameworks for cooperation in the fields of Arab and Islamic heritage, focusing on the collection and verification of jurisprudential fatwas from the era of the Companions (may God be pleased with them), through the imams of the four Islamic schools of thought and their disciples from various parts of the Islamic world. These scholars represent the natural evolution of their imams’ jurisprudential efforts, forming the Islamic jurisprudential schools throughout history, up to the modern-day fiqh councils and fatwa institutions spread across the Islamic world.
The meeting also explored shared perspectives on Islamic Sufism, particularly given the Arab Heritage Center’s substantial contribution to verifying and translating major works in Sufism.
Additionally, they discussed cooperation in the field of electronic publishing between Misr University’s Journal for Humanities Studies, edited by Dr. Anas Atiya Al-Faqi, and the Journal of Dar Al-Iftaa and Al-Azhar Journal. The meeting was attended by Dr. Walid Mubarak, Executive Director of the Scientific Heritage Center at Cairo University, and Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide
