Marwa Amer was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1988. She received a BSc degree in Biotechnology from the Misr University for Science and Technology, Egypt, in 2009. She got her MSc degree in genetics from the Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2013. In 2020, she got her Ph.D. degree in structural biology from, Faculty of Science, Basel University, Switzerland. In 2010, she joined the national research center and Department of Biology, American University in Cairo, as a research assistant on a bioinformatics project studying hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatitis C virus. In 2011 she became a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Biotechnology, Misr University for Science and Technology. In September 2014, she joined the department of biomedical Sciences, Zewail City for Science and Technology where she was a teaching and research assistant and worked on many different projects on stem cells research. In April 2016, she joined Paul Scherrer Institute (ETH domain) as a Ph.D. candidate and worked in a protein crystallography laboratory on many pharmaceutical important proteins. Finally, starting from January 2021, she joined as a lecturer in the Faculty of Biotechnology, Misr University for Science and Technology. Her current research interests include membrane protein functional and structural studies where she spent her last five years at Paul Scherrer Institute (ETH domain) in Switzerland.
