Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) celebrated World Hypertension Day as part of the annual academic plan for the Community Service and Environmental Development sector. This celebration was held under the patronage of Mr. Khaled El-Toukhy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Professor Dr. Nihad El-Mahboub, Dean of the College of Medicine and Acting President of the University, and Professor Dr. Emad Khalil, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The event was supervised by Professor Dr. Ahmed Fouad, the College’s Deputy for Community Service and Environmental Development, in collaboration with Professor Dr. Ahmed Tamara, Head of the Cardiology and Vascular Department, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Zazaou, Executive Director of Souad Kafafi University Hospital, along with the World Hypertension League
The World Hypertension Day 2024 activities included:
- Free points at the University and University Hospital for measuring blood pressure and basic vital signs.
- Educational lectures on the prevention and treatment of hypertension.
- Raising awareness about healthy lifestyle methods including exercise, healthy eating, and stress management.
- A workshop for interns and students on how to correctly measure blood pressure.
- An overview of the latest updates in the treatment of hypertension.
The results of World Hypertension Day 2024 were:
- Blood pressure measurements for 300 visitors.
- Awareness spread among approximately 650 visitors and attendees at the day’s events.
- Training of 150 interns and students on how to correctly measure blood pressure.
